The Happy 101 award from Sooz at the Last biscuit

The weekends are for letting your hair down a bit and today I’ve been tagged by the lovely Sooz at the last biscuit who is passing along the “Happy 101 award”.

I have to list 10 things that make my happy, which is extremely limiting, but here goes:

My husband.

I adore my man; ’nuff said.

My daughter.

She is the only person in the world I love unconditionally (sorry Mr G!)

Sunshine.

This morning is the perfect morning; it’s cold, it’s clear and it’s sunny with blue skies and fluffy clouds.

My open fire.

I discovered, when we ran out of wood and couldn’t use the fire for some time that it isn’t winter I love; it’s the excuse to snuggle up infront of an open fire that keeps me going through the grey months.

You.

I love the fact that you take the time to come here and comment. Without you sharing your life with us, I would probably have given up blogging; so thank you all for being here.

Music.

The stuff my soul craves; I use it to elevate my mood and can frequently be found crying or dancing to music here at Chez Green.

Birdsong.

I went on holiday near the sea once, and apart from seagulls there were no birds. I missed them desperately; I need that background music in my life.

Soul mates?

Finding people who share some of my values, accept me for the flawed person I am and don’t expect me to take part in their dramas enriches my life. There aren’t many of them, but it’s all about quality not quantity.

Spirituality.

Without it I am out of balance. Give me time to meditate, connect with nature, the Source or the Universe and I’ll come back smiling.

Being alone.

I’m an introvert and need a lot of time alone to recharge my batteries. Without that time I get frazzled and irritable. Give me space and I’m a happy bunny.

Share yours too – tell me just one or ten or one hundred things that make you happy – Share and spread the happiness!

    My Top Ten;
    1) My Family; Partner (I really do love you) and my beautiful son.
    2) My wider family; love ’em or hate ’em, I love mine and would be lost without them.
    3) Seasons; I could never live in an environment where there weren’t changes.
    4) Nature; You need to be able to marvel at nature, be it big or small, on a daily basis.
    5) The Great Outdoors; I need to be out in it every day, the weather lately has not helped, but it was lovely when we braved going out.
    6) Trees: They are just beautiful, I always hate it when one near us gets chopped down, they define our surroundings and their movement feeds my soul.
    7) Laughter; Got to have a bit of this daily, it oils my being.
    8) Friends; A girl’s got to gossip and have a coffee together.
    9) Baking; The smells, the look and OGM the taste.
    10) Chocolate; What else???

  2. 1. My children. 4 little tree hugging granola girls. From Hailey who wants to recycle everything possible, the twins who will eat anything I throw their way, to my oldest Alyssa who loves buying recycled products for her friends on their birthdays.
    2. My husband. Married 10 yrs and running. He truly is my best friend.
    3. My home. Lived here for 1 yr now and I love everything about it. My home is old, not updated and very me. Our neighborhood is amazing, our neighbors are amazing and its just a great place to live.
    4. Each season. Spring is planning our garden and filing my heart up with joy. Summer is tending the garden in hopes of yummy produce. Also great pics! Fall is all about walking around and falling in love with all the colors and gentle winds. Winter it feels more quiet and I love breathing in the crisp air.
    5. My fireplace. Its huge and has a great space for my kids to sit at and get warm. I just love listening to the fireplace crackle and snap and oh how I love that smell.
    6. Local thrift shops-I call them my time warps. I can step foot in one and be there for hours and not realize how fast the time flew. You give me the choice to not buy new. You save me money. You save so many goodies from ending up in the landfill.
    7. My garden. I could spend hours in there. I love listening to my kids play while I tend to the garden. This year will include a space just for them in my garden to read books.
    8. My compost-oh how you save me in more ways than one. From turning yuckies into amazing soil, to saving me money on my garbage bill. I heart you.
    9. My blog Surviving and thriving on pennies. The process of starting this blog, the blog world way bigger than I originally thought, to all the wonderful fans and fellow bloggers I have met.
    10. Coffee. Without you I would be a walking zombie. I heart you.

  3. all of the above; i mean all…
and then there’s writing.being welcomed to comment on worthy blogs…
    and soft sleep.–
reciting to self, reasons for being in a state of happy.
    and waking up.
fresh air–clear streams, mostly in my memory.
trains, also mostly in memory bank, none around here.
fresh fish, yes, emphasis on fresh–when you live in the far-far middle of nowhere, fresh is of the essence.
    photograph drooling–again memory bank withdrawal.
and of course getting something for nothing–veges, orphan books–cloth?zero consumer here.
