Rachelle Strauss resource magazine hot 100Celebrations are taking place here at zero waste towers.

I’ve been recognised in the Resource Magazine’s “Hot 100” of key movers and shakers in the waste and recycling industry for the second year running!

I’m 11th out of 100 for “being an authentic eco-womble par excellence”.

Cute!

It was also noted “She has worked like a demon to get zero waste on the agenda and her blog inspires others to take action too”.

Woohoo!

And I’m even more thrilled that the wonderful Karen Cannard; creator of The Rubbish Diet, is at position 7 for “her boundless enthusiasm for slimming bins.”

I should say – every time I ring her she’s just got back in from somewhere or is on her way out to spread the message.

Voters also added “She doesn’t preach, she inspires! Hers is truly a world-saving approach.”

Isn’t that fantastic?

The Hot 100, compiled annually by Resource Magazine and announced yesterday at the Kit Strange Memorial Lecture at the Houses of Parliament, is packed with the top influencers from government, local authorities, the community sector, academia and industry as well as campaigners, all delivering change to help the UK move towards a resource efficient economy.

Karen and I are thrilled that our work has been recognised – representing our peer-to-peer action in social media and local communities as well as our enthusiasm to inspire people to think differently about waste.

The Hot 100 was packed with some wonderful people I’ve had the opportunity to connect with over the years including Emma Marsh, the food-waste guru at Love Food Hate Waste, who shares my passion for chucking things in her soup that most people would stick in the bin.

Huge congratulations to Iain Gulland, Director of Zero Waste Scotland, who topped the list for his determination, forward thinking and hard work in delivering resource opportunities for Scotland.

What with that and a brand new website (you did notice, right?!) it’s been a great start to the year!

I’m proud of ya gal! I guess, more than most people I’ve seen how tirelessly you’ve promoted zero waste and Reduce-Reuse-Recyle. More than a philosophy, more than a hobby, its a way of life. But more than anything you do this because you love Mother Earth and all the beauty she gives us. All power to you Mrs Green … May your message travel far and wide.

  2. Well done. The ‘womble’ appellation is honour indeed, if perhaps needing a certain age range to appreciate. That or, of course, ‘Clangers’.

Congratulations and lovely to see you back on the mainland. Your website has been a great resource all the time you’ve been on the islands. I particularly agreed when you showed us the earphones and the packaging… There are areas that really do have to be visited and re-visited.

Happy New Year to you all!
