Welcome back!

Well, Mr Green’s rather optimistic 60 minutes of maintenance turned swiftly into 7 hours, but there we are. A girl can’t rush a makeover job, despite what the programmes on TV tell us.
So here we are with a fresh coat of paint! I may well have been laid up in bed for a couple of days, but there was nothing to stop me telling Mr Green that I wanted blue walls at zero waste towers rather than red ones.
The makeover is, in fact, to celebrate our one year zero waste anniversary, but we had the day to ourselves today, so it was the perfect time to get on with things uninterrupted. It’s a couple of weeks early, but who’s counting? Thanks for all your patience and we hope you enjoy the new look site. It’s easier to navigate and we’ve added some new sections.
Reduce, reuse and recycle are full of short punchy tips if you’ve only got a moment to stay and are looking for inspiration.
We’ll be keeping up with our regular daily blog and we’ve combined the monthly challenges and dustbin demon in with the blog, as I wasn’t getting time to update the sections on the previous site.
Overall things should be more streamlined for you, but we may have glitches, so please let us know about them and we’ll put them right as soon as we can!
At the top left of the home page you’ll see our featured content.
This shows
- a page about us and the site for new visitors
- tips for beginners
- opportunities for ‘intermediates‘ to flex their rubbish reducing muscles further
- for our zero waste enthusiasts there is no rest – we’ve got more ideas to inspire you and want to hear yours!
- and of course, our shop, where you can help support the site by purchasing some recycled ReSACKel shopping bags. We’re still saving money in our piggy bank for a new server, so if you have some pennies to spare and want a few useful bags for yourself or to give as gifts, please consider ordering from us.
The Talk page is here, where you can say or ask anything about reducing your household waste. Feel free to use this page to chat amongst yourselves. We considered running a forum, but don’t have time to give it the attention it would require. So please, go ahead and talk and share your experience with one another.
The discussions page is central to our site and can be found here; this is where all the most recent comments are listed so you can keep up with who is saying what.
One glitch we are already aware of it the dancing icons when you hit ‘Featured Content’ in the flash featured content section (pretty pictures of cute babies in the top of the home page). We’re working on it, but, after 7 hours or blood, sweat, tears and throbbing feet we’re pooped, so we’ll get to it as soon as we can.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your well wishes over the past couple of days, for your patience as we did the site revamp, for your support over the past year and a HUGE thank you from the heart of my bottom to Mr Green – the brains behind the site.
Without him, this site wouldn’t exist. He creates the cyber space and I fill it with my inane ramblings. He is enormously patient, seldom gets huffy with me, despite my numerous requests for all sorts of silly girly features on the site and he’s been a real trooper this past week.
He has been working busily behind the scenes for about a month now with meticulous planning so that things went as smoothly as they could today. Thank you is not enough, but it’s a start …
Please grab a glass of your favourite tipple, toast yourselves, the gorgeous Mr green, the even more gorgeous Little Miss and Cattus Green and let’s enjoy another year of rubbishy adventures together…
It’s all looking lovely and shiny 🙂 Well done for the update, and hope you’re all feeling better.
Wow!!!! This really looks great. Congrats on a job well done.
Hi Mrs Green,
I really like the new look for the website, especially with your second year starting soon. A full year of Zero Waste is a great achievement. The experience gained will make year 2 that bit nearer to Zero.
Since we are talking new, a new picture from me will replace the previous graphic. It will take some time to organise, with brother Andy visiting in the near future. I do not know whether I was doing justice to the image or whether it was doing justice to me. What do you think?
I beat you to it John, sorted my my new gravatar this morning!!
Wahee! Lovely to see you, Maisie – I hope you will encourage others to be less shy and show their lovely faces too.
Glad everyone is so far liking the new look; I don’t quite know what we would have done if you didn’t LOL! REdecorating would not have been amusing …
I’ve been wantinmg to sort this for a while but hadn’t got a decent picture I could use.
This was taken when we out the other week for DS2s teachers hen night.
Oooh, shiiiinyyyyyy…….
Very nice! I’m off out for a bit but I’ll be back to have a proper look around all the new bits later.
Well done.
Oooooh beautiful. Love it, love it, love it, love it! I love it so much I don’t know what I love best. Blue is a wonderfully calming colour. I hope you’re feeling better.
Right I’m inspired to join Maisie (big wave to Maisie) to change my gravatar and show my face. 😀 x
@maisie dalziel: Maisie, Great to see you doing the same, and being the first to show the idea. Newcomers will enjoy seeing the faces behind all our comments. The more the merrier and Mrs Average will be another, surely more will follow suit.
Ooooh, this looks very nice!
Oooo…..errrrr…..ummmm Very blue! Bit of a shock to the system. On my way to cook tea, so I’ll be back for a proper browse later.
Wow!! You go away for a bit and everything changes whilst you are gone!! Fantastic Mr and Mrs G and of course I know that LMG would’ve had a hand in things somewhere too…. I need to go and explore more!! Also are you entirely sure it has been a year?? Where did that time go eh?
It looks great. I’ll have to set aside some time to poke around, but a yearly makeover is a nice idea isn’t it?
The new home is looking very spiffy 🙂
