acc blog summit on recycling plasticsA couple of weeks ago, I shared that I’d been asked to participate in the American Chemistry Council’s blog summit on plastics recycling.

The blog summit began this week with 10 contributors; led by Sharon Kneiss, vice president of the American Chemistry Council, debating the following questions:

  • What is the state of recycling today?
  • Are we doing enough?
  • What about the current infrastructure works well?
  • In what areas do we need to do more and/or do it differently?
  • How will economic conditions change the ways in which governments manage their recycling programs and will these changes be temporary or permanent?

Contributors are:

  • Amanda Willis, Assistant Editor for Earth911.com
  • Anne Johnson, Program Director for GreenBlue
  • Bill Carteaux, President of the Society of the plastics industry
  • Billy Jones, manager of Salvage America
  • Blair Pollack, solid waste planner for Orange County NC
  • Jeff Wooster, lead Dow representative for various sustainable packaging initiatives
  • John Frederick, executive director with the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania
  • John Lively, Preserve products
  • Patricia Moore, Director of Moore Recycling Associates Inc

and of course, your’s truly!

Next week we are moving onto other topics, surrounding plastics recycling. The blog summit lasts for a month.

It’s an open forum where anyone can join in with relevant questions and information. So do pop over and have a read through. You’ll find my posts here and you are welcome to leave a comment on any of the posts.

Do you have something to say about the current state of plastics recycling? Or an idea to share about how we can do things better in the future? Perhaps you have something to say about the current economic climate and how it effects recycling.

This is your opportunity to have your voice heard by a key target audience.

Come and keep me company over there and let me know what you think! Visit the American Chemistry Blog summit site here.

Mrs Green, The blog summit is an excellent way to follow the US situation and ours, to a lesser extent. A close dialogue between both sides can develop.

Anyone can post questions, ideas or experiences there to enhance the debate.
