The ultimate recycled Christmas presents

buy-once-give-twice for recycled Christmas presentsFancy a signed Fender by Sting or a private recital by Sarah Connolly? How about a photography shoot with World Renowned Fashion Photographer Tony McGee or top class butler service in your home for the night? Doesn’t impress you?

Then how about a Birthday party in Hamleys, VIP tickets to the 2009 Grand Prix or a three hour flight in a multi-million pound full motion flight simulator with a British Airways pilot?

There is a whole stash of zero waste Christmas presents for those who have bucket loads of cash to share and for those who have ‘difficult to buy for’ family members and friends to please.

I’m not usually impressed by big shows of money for Christmas gifts, but these are gifts with a difference. This is philanthropic recycling for the 21st century where charities get to benefit!

Founded in 2007; Buy Once Give Twice was created by Mia Woodford and Emma Leschallas. They discovered there were plenty of charity auction lots bought at events that went unredeemed. In addition donors often give an item to a charity which the charity can’t use because it’s not staging an event, or the item might not be directly suitable for their supporters.

Out of this frustration came a great idea – an auction site rooted in philanthropy.

Buy Once Give Twice ‘recycles’ wasted lots and as the name suggests, the money has already benefitted the charity, but buy selling lots a second time round, the charity can benefit twice.

So if you’re stuck for a unique gift and fancy taking part on a very exciting online auction, complete with feel good factor and recycling built in, why not go and browse the lots and see what is up for grabs?

Don’t worry, not everything requires you to remortgage your home – there are signed footballs, tv scripts, books and photos at reasonable prices. Oh, and a rather dashing poster signed by Johnny Depp himself.

Mmmmmmmm; Dear Santa………
