And the winner is……..

I’m so excited (yeah) and I just can’t hide it (yeah); I’m about to lose control and I think I like it.
This is the post I’ve been champing at the bit to write. We have a winner to announce! I’m so happy that I can’t help but do one of my famous happy dances.
In our first monthly competition, we linked with the lovely Rachael Hertog to offer one winner a washable sanitary pad.
This competition caused quite a stir, not being your average give away and all that, with a little hate mail to boot. But for the main part, this competition was met with intrigue and an open mind. We had some great comments on the site and a few readers coming out of the woodwork with their own experiences of using reusable sanitary products.
Read more about ways in which you can stop 12-17,000 items of sanitary protection going into the landfill in your lifetime, ladies, and gentlemen with ladies in your lives, by reading our article.
So, without further ado, we’re pleased to announce our first My Zero Waste winner – Jane C. I don’t know where she is from yet, as the naughty bunny didn’t send in her address. But we’ll be catching up with her soon to send her the prize.
As you’ll be aware, all competitions are judged by Little Miss Green.
Jane’s tip on how to reduce waste was “I reduce waste by shredding all scraps of paper (too small for recycling) and putting on my garden compost.”
This appealed to Little Miss Green’s hamster tendencies no doubt, and the fact that she loves to shred things into tiny pieces too. It’s a recycling idea we hadn’t thought of ourselves, here at Chez Green and has now been taken on with gusto by our darling daughter.
Well done Jane and thanks for the inspiration!
Well it’s July now, so time for another giveaway. Find out how to win a fabulous bokashi bin, courtesy of our lovely friends at Natural Collection by heading over to our competitions page.
Silly me. My worms have been treated to the delights of all my receipts and bus tickets for some time. I didn’t think of it as something inspirational for the competition. They also get most of our shredded paper. Congratulations Jane C 🙂 xx
It is weird isn’t it? How the tiniest things that we’ve been doing for ages are so much part of our lifestyle, we don’t even register them anymore………
I’m glad your worms are enjoying your bus tickets and receipts! our compost bin is starting to get ours now 😀
