Carol Atkinson

I’m delighted to be shining the spotlight on Carol Atkinson today.

Carol is a talented fashion designer and textile artist who designs and creates limited edition and unique, craft based fashion accessories for women, men, children and the home. She uses knit, boiled wool felt and vintage and recycled fabrics to produce unusual, and often one-off, pieces.

Carol’s trademark is applique and freehand machine embroidered embellishments which bring her own signature to her creations.

Her recycled products include bespoke slippers, hats, bags and purses, scarves and brooches.

We’re thrilled to be able to offer a gorgeous prize to one lucky winner during our Pledge and WIN competition. You’ll be able to order a handmade pair of recycled, made to order, felt slippers from Carol.

These slippers will be made entirely from surplus woollen jumpers. Carol uses only 100% wool or pure lambswool jumpers which are turned into felt before she creates each pair of slippers. On average only one complete pair of slippers can be made using each jumper, therefore you can be guaranteed that your slippers will be unique!

You tell Carol the size and basic colour scheme you would like along with any motifs that you want such as flowers, dots, spots, stars, hearts, or whatever else you fancy and just like the elves and the shoemaker, Carol will weave her magic into your very own creation.

Carol reuses packaging wherever possible to reduce her impact on the environment. She has changed from using poly bags to traditional brown paper and string! Each of her purchases comes with the following message attached:

Outer packaging is recycled where possible so please don’t be offended if your parcel seemed a little scruffy…now that you’ve opened it you will see that we gift wrap items with every care they deserve.
