Vote for your favourite green sites with the Green Web Awards

The search is on for the web’s best green websites, social media and digital activity!

Nigel’s Eco Store are running their second annual Green Web Awards and this year, you can get in on the action.

Last years awards received some criticism for two main reasons. The first was that big companies won a lot of the awards and second they were voted for by, erm, big green companies. This left little green bloggers, doing some good work, out in the cold.

Nigel, being the good fellow he is, has actually listened to the critics and made changes this year. He’s turned the whole event into a more democratic affair.

He’s figured that the people who know most about green sites, the real experts on what makes a green site a great green site is the readers!

So this year, you can get finger happy on the keyboard. You can put in your votes, Nigel’s panel, including green advocates such as Caroline Lucas from the Green Party, Tiimothy Latz from Best Green Blogs and Adam Vaughan deputy editor for Environmental Guardian, will draw up a short-list of nominated sites in each category, based on two criteria: the volume of nominations received for each entry, and their personal opinion and expertise.

No expert will be asked to adjudicate on a site or activity in which they have any personal interest. After that, everyone can vote on their favourites, and the winner will be announced in January 2009

There are twelve categories such as Green site for kids, ethical health and beauty site, eco blogs and news sites, and green living advise sites. You can even nominate a site for Worst Greenwash.

Nominations are open until 16th November, so get nominating your favourite green websites!

Let me know; do you have a favourite ‘green’ website or do you feel the internet awash with green sites saying the same thing? have you had a gut full of the green stuff, or do you love surfing green sites? Tell me some of your favourites!
