A zero waste Birthday

Cattus Green has a zero waste BirthdayWe celebrated a very special Birthday here at Chez Green last week and the earth celebrated with us as it was a true zero waste affair.

Yes, Cattus Green; she of You Tube Fame, saw in her 16th Birthday last Thursday. She is my last remaining friend of seven assorted twins, brothers, sisters and half siblings that I have loved in my time.

She started her celebrations early by devouring about 1/3 roast chicken at that lovely ‘just caught by my own fair paw’ temperature. She’d been having tinned salmon for a couple of weeks because it was on offer at Lidls, but get this; the girl would rather eat chicken. Chicken it was then along with a piece of string tied onto the end of a newspaper ball for a present. We sang Happy Birthday to her, Little Miss green insisted that I try and stick a Birthday candle in some whipped cream as a sort of ‘cake’ (I indulged naturally) and we all helped the cat blow it out. A 16 year old cat’s puff isn’t what it used to be you know.

She spent the day in front of the fire enjoying all the attention, strokes, combs, sweet talkings and that was it. A perfect day without an ounce of waste – if only us humans were so easy to please.

She appreciated all your good wishes so much that she lifted up her tail and showed me her bottom. That’s pretty good in cat language 😀
