Climate Change Solutions 2020 zero waste conference
According to Climate Change Solutions, climate change caused by global warming represents one of the greatest challenges of the 21st Century, necessitating the engagement of all sections of society, local and global.
Their aim is to develop and promote sustainable local and global climate change solutions, generate and support initiatives contributing towards achieving a low carbon economy and clean technology future as well as organising an annual Climate Change Solutions Expo.
This week, at the end of zero waste week, they are running a conference: “Making 2020 Zero Waste work“. The conference takes place in Coventry and has an exciting line up of speakers including one of my all time heroes; Prof Paul Connett. We’ve heard him speak twice about incineration and he’s a passionate and dynamic speaker – an absolute delight to spend time with.
Caroline Spelman will be speaking too. A woman after my own heart she says that although we are moving in the right direction with recycling rates we need to go further and faster. Yay!
Mal Williams, CEO of Cylch-Wales Community Recycling Network will also be speaking. His fantastic and inspiring organisation provide information, advice and support to existing and emerging community recyclers across Wales. Mal firmly believes, as I do, that waste materials are a valuable resource which, if managed effectively, can create environmental, social and economic benefits for local people.
And if that’s not enough to convince you, our very own wonderwoman, Mrs A will be there; what’s not to love!
The conference takes place 9th September between 9am and 4:30pm at St. Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry. There will be plenty of time for networking and discussions as well as a series of workshops to help develop strategies for a zero waste future.
