One of our readers, Joddle wrote to me about ‘green’ blogs.

She said “My zero waste is one of my favourite blogs but as I can’t get enough of zero waste reading I’m looking for more sites to satisfy my cravings.

Any chance readers of the site can start a thread about good eco blogs to read?” Joddle says she is “specifically looking for ones like Mrs G’s which don’t just rehash news found elsewhere.” She goes on to say “It can be hard to find blogs that are as interesting as this one to read. I’d be especially interested in reading ones from a UK perspective.”

What a great idea! I love a good blog to read but alas I don’t get much time to peruse the internet as I’d like to.

So over to you, dear readers – which green blogs do you love to devour? Don’t be shy – if you run one yourself, then share it in the comments below!

Part of my personal decluttering mission has been in the cyber world too, so I don’t have many blogs left in my RSS reader. However, from the UK I read the following:

Organic lifestyle

Julie runs Organikal and is a committed organic enthusiast. She lives lightly on the planet by growing food, is working towards going off grid and is weaning herself off supermarkets.

Sustainable living

Brigit Strawbridge has such a wonderful, compassionate energy. She blogs about bees, permaculture and sustainable living. She doesn’t blog often, but is very active on twitter.

Home cooked food

Sue, over at the Quince Tree, shares beautiful photos about her daily life. She’s not ‘eco’ per se, but is on a zero waste mission and has some gorgeous recipes to share.

Green Living Review

Michael over at the Green (living) review has the energy of 10 people. He blogs several times a day on all things eco and provides thought provoking posts.

Reducing waste

One of our readers, Sooz, runs ‘The Last biscuit’ which is her adventures in reducing waste. She shares great posts about how she swaps product for another in order to be more sustainable.

And of course my list would not be complete without wonderwoman, Mrs A over at Rubbish Diet who still finds time to pop in a blog post from time to time and the lovely Tracey Smith; our favourite downshifting expert.
Both these ladies are more active in their local communities and via social media so check out their twitter and facebook profiles to keep up to date with their latest ventures.

About the Author ()

I am a long time supporter of the Green and Sustainable lifestyle. After being caught in the Boscastle floods in 2004, our family begun a journey to respect and promote the importance of Earth's fragile ecosystem, that focussed on reducing waste. Inspired by the beauty and resourcefulness of this wonderful planet, I have published numerous magazine articles on green issues and the author of four books.

Of course myzerowaste.com is my favourite green blog! 😉

And I also like this one: http://myplasticfreelife.com/

  2. I have just started writing a blog about my quest to live sustainably. I hope that it will inspire others to make changes in their lives. http://www.sustainablelivingexpert.co.uk
    I also tweet @sustyliving

I love myzerowaste, and enjoy reading the articles from treehugger.com (a daily newsletter really, rather than a blog). I also enjoy missminimalist.com for inspiration about living with fewer things.

  3. Woohoo! Thank you for mentioning our wee Organikal blog Rae – much appreciation sent down the broadband 🙂

You are of course our absolute favourite, but I’d also add in the lovely Juliet’s Crafty Green Poet blog : http://craftygreenpoet.blogspot.com/

Looking forward to checking out The Quince Tree.

Glad to see you back online after yesterday – phew! 😉

  4. Forgot to also mention the beautiful Jackie Stewarts’ nature blog > http://essenceofwild.co.uk/ < definitely worth a read. x

This is a great list of green blogs for me to check out from now on – thanks. Apart from yours the other ‘green’ blog that I read is The Zero Waste Home – http://zerowastehome.blogspot.com/ – which has lots of inspiring ideas on reducing waste.

I’m also new to blogging but have been so inspired by your efforts and sense of humor. I also think fakeplasticfish.com is a great site to visit with all sorts of insights into zero waste and living without plastic. If you have the time, please check out our family’s efforts to tackle zero waste initiatives both at home and in the remote Himalayas. Both efforts, with 2 young trainees (ages 5 and 7) in tow, have informed each other beautifully. We have much to learn from indigenous cultures that have not forgotten how to live closer to the Earth. Anyway, our blog with a few fun 10 minute film shorts about our work is at http://www.pioneeringthesimplelife.wordpress.com
    Thanks for all you do!

@Mrs G – thanks for starting this post!

At the moment I like http://noteasytobegreen.wordpress.com/ which is an American blog yet still very relevant.

I used to read my plastic free life but the posts weren’t frequent enough and I got bored 😉

And James Cleverly blogs occasionally. He is very knowledgeable so I enjoy checking it once in a while http://jamescleverly.blogspot.com/search/label/waste%20and%20recycling

Still looking for more though and I’m very interested to get recommendations from everybody here

I read a looot of blogs, but some of my favorite green ones are
    http://www.organicgypsy.co.za/
    http://www.littleecofootprints.com/
    http://ecoexperiment.blogspot.com/
    http://allotment2kitchen.blogspot.com/
    and myzerowaste of course!

I’m looking forward to checking out all the new blogs mentioned here! 🙂

  9. I have to give http://wasteawarescotland.wordpress.com/ a plug – although I’m rather biased as I’m a contributor to it.

  10. Mrs Green says:

thanks for all the wonderful suggestions – my reading list has increased and I’ve found some really gems there – hope you have too 🙂

  11. Jamila says:

I have a blog http://thegreenattraction.com, it is fairly new (almost 6 months running) and is based in the US. However, I try and incorporate information from all over the globe because I have readers in countries other than the US.

I like to think of my site as much more than a green site. I provide daily tips, information on how to properly dispose of an item, polls, random blurbs, and much more. My mission is to give the everyday person some tips on how he or she can make steps to become more green in their lives, without sacrificing who they are. =]

    I also enjoy myzerowaste.com, treehugger.com, and earth911.com

  12. Mrs Green says:

@Jamila: Hi Jamilla, thanks for sharing the link to your blog; it sounds like you have some great features on there 🙂
