Find out who's been banning the plastic bag

Welcome to this week’s roundup of some of the best reduce, reuse, recycle stories on the net.

Each one provides inspiration to us all for living a more zero waste lifestyle.

Minimise household waste

I was honoured to be asked to write a guest post on Alea’s blog “Premeditated leftovers”.

Alea explained that she had reached a ‘waste plateau’ so she and her readers might like some advise on getting back on the zero waste wagon with tips for minimising waste.

I’d love you to take a read and please leave a comment over there! Last time I looked there were none!

Pre-Loved Items

This week I came across a great weekly link-up called “Monday Magpie

Liz, who runs “Me and my shadow” created it for people to pay homage too all pre-loved treasures. This week Liz bought an outfit to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Last week she showed us photos of her beautiful guest bedroom, kitted out in pre-loved furniture.

If you’ve purchased something second hand from a charity shop, car boot sale, eBay or whatever then you’re invited to write a blog on your post and link up or share photos with her.

I’m going to give this some thought over the next couple of weeks and start joining in.

Ban the plastic bag

Gordon Millar, who has the most amazing energy and motivation for his cause, is celebrating this week after his story in the Guardian was shared over 800 times on facebook!

He has been campaigning relentlessly to ban the plastic bag in Edinburgh and teamed up with the Morningside and Meadows Scottish Green party councillor, Alison Johnstone, to ask the council to make the whole city plastic bag free.

Check out the story “Bid to ban plastic bags” and follow his progress on Facebook.

    Good luck Gordon I say.
Guess what, the recycling banks at Sainsbury’s were still overflowing this morning. The lady at customer services said they’d phoned the company who said they’d emptied one and empty another another day. Said they’d get on to them again tomorrow. We shall see.

  2. Mrs Green says:

@Julie Day: Well I guess these things take time to organise. Let’s hope they are emptied this week. I’m off to JS recycling myself today; last time we couldn’t get in because they were being emptied; but it was very quick and efficient.
