Help Michelle recycle her paint in Washington!

Help Michelle recycle her paint in Washington!

The other week we asked you to help Frannie recycle her biodegradable PVC credit style cards.

This week Michelle needs your help with recycling her paint.
She’s looking for a place in the Washington DC Metropolitian Area that recycles household paint, but she doesn’t want a county landfill.

Does anyone know of a commmunity revilatization project that needs paint?

I’ve suggested Michelle tries Freecycle, but it would be great if you know of anyone who needs it.

Over here in the UK, we have Community Repaint, who connect people who have paint to donate with the people who need it. Individuals and families on income support, former homeless, refugees and asylum seekers can all benefit along with projects such as children’s playgrounds, public parks, furniture painting for adults with special needs and restoration of bicycles and wheelchairs for third world countries.

If you have any suggestions for how Michelle can recycle her paint in Washington, please add your comment!

Hmm, I have no actual suggestions, as I’m not from the area – I’d suggest to ask any local charity org if they know someone that might need it, maybe a church or ask around/put a leaflet up in a students’ dorm or library or something..
If there are any low-budget cafes or art students, maybe a project could be done between these two as well..

I totally love the idea of ‘paint bank’ (and textiles bank) and wish they’d come to Slovenia too!!
As it is, best to ask around in the local community, depending on the type of paint she has too..
She could also contact a shelter or any volunteering organisations directly etc.

@Layla: Hi Layla; great suggestions. Asking around the local area is a great start and I’m sure something will turn up. Hospitals and nurseries and some outdoor parks often want murals painted on the walls
