A use for our old toilet seat

Gather around the fire for a story about our toilet seat

You remember back in sunnier climes when our wooden toilet seat had seen one bottom too many?

Yes cracks started to appear in a place you don’t want to see cracks and our wooden toilet seat gave up the ghost after being dumped on too many times.

We asked you what we should do with it and suggestions varied from the creative to the down right silly. Most of the silly ones from me, I’ll hasten to add.

Christmas wreaths, a funky basket for shooting hoops and a stylish necklace nestled amongst suggestions for a horse collar for gurning contests, a picture or mirror frame, a planter for the garden, a nest box for a chicken, hanging it in the shed to dry things over to offering it on Freecycle.

Perhaps if I were famous I could have sold it for a small fortune as the toilet seat that Mrs Green parked her arse on for several years.

Well one suggestion got our vote on a cold, grey autumnal day and I’ll think you’ll agree it’s one instance where ‘energy from waste’ can be put to good use.

Ah, but before we let you see it, remember I’m bugging the hell out of you this week by asking you to do something for us. It will only take a couple of seconds of your time; so if we’re worth that to you, please help out!

We’ve joyfully been nominated for the Green Web Awards “Best Green Living Advise Site”. Trouble is, being the greedy greens that we are, we want to WIN! Voting ends on Friday, so please go along to the Green Web Awards, scroll down the page to the “Green Living Advise Site” and vote for us! While you’re at it, scroll down once more to the Social Media Hero category and vote for Mrs A’s The Rubbish Diet.

While you’re at it, pop a note on facebook, twitter, any forums you take part on or annoy your friends by emailing them a blanket email with a link otherwise I will start to haunt your dreams.

Ok, on with the show, you may now press ‘play’ and enjoy

Thank you both and what a leading story to have on the day you get into the Nationals LOL! Now I’m known as the woman who helps people recycle toilet seats. Unfortunately I’m not sure most readers have the wood burner option 😀 It probably put off a lot of new readers for life …

You burned the toilet seat? I hope it was outdoors, at least! Did you think of the glue with its toxins you were burning at the same time? Indoors, this is quite a bit of toxic pollution to breathe. Outdoors, the same toxins will be released but will not be breathed in by your family in the same concentrations.

If you have a toilet set heres an idea I used . Buy a set of battery operated lights, drill holes around the seat insert each tiny light into the holes ,glue some sand around different areas ofthe seat, add seashells ,and drift wood, place your finished project on your outside patio table under your unbrella. Get some small potted plants,,place them inside the toilet seat,. Great way to add lights and outside art!

Cindy, I love that idea! It would make such a great conversation piece for ‘guess the original object!’
