Just thirty seconds of your time …

Over on the American Chemistry Council’s blog summit, I was inspired by a post from Amanda Wills, Assistant editor of Earth 911 about recycling.
She asked her readers a question about ‘going green’ and I want to ask the same question about recycling.
Please take a moment to complete the following sentence in the comments below:
“The one thing holding me back from recycling more is…”
Lack of facilities for certain types of plastic.
Having more local facilities for depositing/collection of my recyling materials.
the lack of a standard, countrywide and all-inclusive recycling system.
The paucity of local containers for tetra paks.
………….the huge variety of plastics and the lack of facilities to recycle them.
The amount of plastic used in packaging and being unable to recycle a lot of it.
I’ve just had two responses via twitter:
@jessiedale said “the items accepted at my recycling center”
and savvychristine said “the distance between me and the hard-to-recycle recycling center: an extra half hour to drop off old shoes & styrofoam”
Thanks to everyone else who has responded so far; it’s very interesting to read your replies – keep them coming!
the plastics and plastic bags used in packaging that are unmarked.
lack of recycling facilities for polystyrene and bubblewrap. Nice to get things off your chest 😀 x
nothing. We are pretty good at it.
I would like to recycle more, but don’t know what all is accepted by my local station. I do take everything that I know will be accepted, though.
An another reply regarding the different types of plastic that can’t be recycled around here. If there aren’t countrywide facilities in every local town for every kind of plastic that manufacturers produce, then they shouldn’t be allowed to produce it! Supermarkets are the worst.

…the lack of a universal system of labelling which would allow me to identify the material and advise me how to recycle it … and the lack of easily acccessible plastic recycling facilities.
.. the fact that my local council are so awkward and picking about how they will collect things and on what days – they’ve made it into far too much of a chore.
For me, it’s the relative lack of disposal means or drop-off points. In my neighbourhood, there’s only one drop-off point for glass bottles. Nothing for plastics, paper or used batteries.
Not knowing where the recyclables are actually ending up.
Finding someone who is willing to take 1/2 of a tractor-trailer load of clean styrofoam off my hands.
Too much produce comes overpackaged in unlabelled and or non recycleable plastic. I get confused about what to do with it all.
