Free magazines for everyone

This week we talked about freebies for businesses by bringing you news about Scrap Shop.

Today it’s your turn!

This week I discovered, through a user on the Green Parent forum, a way for everyone to get their mitts on a free online magazine. You may remember last year we talked about our love of magazines when I suggested switching to online subscriptions. This reduces paper and plastic waste and takes a tremendous burden off the environment’s resources.

Whether you’re in to celebrity gossip, health and beauty, photography, computers, camper vans, gardening, cooking, cycling, films, golf or music you should find something to take your fancy on the Tesco Go Read Green website.

It’s simple to download your free magazines just pick a magazine, enter your email, choose a password and read online straight away!

It’s a great way to sample an issue before committing to a  full subscription. If you enjoy reading online and take out a subscription for yourself or someone else - don’t forget Christmas is not far away and an online subscription makes a great zero waste present - a portion of each purchase made goes towards planting trees.

If you’re into more ‘alternative’ magazines, Exact Editions have trial editions of a great selection of magazines such as Permaculture, Green Parent, Resurgence and The Idler.

Happy reading! Let us know what you download and whether you enjoy reading a magazine on a screen or whether you’re not ready to give up glossy paper just yet.

    Fabby idea!
However, I must admit I do love a proper paper magazine or book….. Sorry.

    Thanks!

I wonder if this can be sampled internationally too? :)

I love magazines, haven’t been buying them though as the glossy paper is recycled with more difficulty or not at all!
I still adore RL books (ideally printed on TCF paper? Do such exist?;)) as the monitor can hurt my eyes a bit..

@Sarah: Me too Sarah; it will take a lot to get me to switch to online subscriptions. Magazines are one of my ‘green sin’ luxuries.

@Layla: I don’t see why not, Layla - try it and see. I can’t imagine it would make any difference as they only ask for an email address. Like you, the screen is not good for me for a long time.

brilliant Rachael, thanks for this. The Exact Editions ones look great and immediately available on the screen.

Another site you might want to check out is Magatopia.com. They have over 2500 magazines for free online. And they don’t require an email address or anything.

@Terry: Hi Terry, thank you for recommending that site. I shall go and have a look and see if I fancy reading anything!
